Neighborhood Forest • This nonprofit gives trees to school children. For free. For every Earth Day. Since 2010 they've helped plant over 30,000 trees, giving kids a way to connect with the Earth. We’ve partnered with them since 2015 and one of their beneficiaries is local St. Anthony Park Elementary!

Celebrate spring & community with Mayfest! More than just a plant sale, it’s an outdoor extravaganza of music, food, beer, product samples, community partners, and activities for the kiddos. Everyone is welcome, and you don't need to be a gardener to have a good time – so bee there!

05/11/2019 - 11:00am to 3:00pm

We are super excited to have KFAI DJs – along with live music – at this year's Mayfest! Travis from Travo Ramo Fa Fa Fa & Blanche from Fubar Omniverse will be spinning eclectic tunes specially selected from their encyclopedic collections. In between record sets, Rachel steps up with some classical cello, then Enzo performs classical and improvisational guitar.

Note that we will be closed this Easter Sunday, April 21st. We reopen Monday at 7:00 AM. Wishing all of our customers a joyous Passover time, or a happy Easter Sunday, or just a nice weekend in general!

Before Earth Day stop by the Transition Town - ASAP table and learn about handy "tools" to save energy and live greener. They collaborated with Noll Hardware to brainstorm a few practical items that people can use to lighten their load on the Earth, and HPC has a few things too. Find some easy ideas to help you shift toward carbon neutral!

If you're shopping – especially with the kiddos – stop by to say "hi" to Neighborhood Forest. They'll be sharing stories about their organization and giving away some little Red Cedar trees to families while they last!

Minnesota FoodShare Campaign – for Keystone Food Shelf • Every March we are proud to participate as one of the Cooperating Minnesota Food Co-ops. The issue of food insecurity is far too real. For those who face hunger daily, or for those who find themselves in an emergency (remember the government shutdown?) please consider a roundup when checking out and/or donate non-perishable food, household & personal-care products!

We've been tapping & clicking as fast as we can to compose the next issue of the 928 News. Like spring, it IS on its way! The newsletter should be in members' mailboxes soon. In the meantime, if you wish to use one of your quarterly member discount coupons, just ask the cashier.

UPDATE on reset. Freezers are getting restocked! Some grocery & wellness stock is not back in its permanent place, so please ask if you need help. Daily soups & weekday hot bar items are on schedule so, except for some frozen, we have everything that you might need for a fast bite or a slow meal!

The winter issue of the 928 News was delivered to members' homes by the hard-working USPS right before the holidays. There are also a few copies in the store for anybody, while they last. OR you can read on for an outline of this quarter's issue + find the whole publication as a pdf.

International Institute of Minnesota: this nonprofit has been welcoming immigrants & refugees for nearly a century. With an inspiring history of serving the needs of ever-changing cultures & populations, in 2018 alone the Institute assisted 3,721 New Americans from 104 countries. During these times their mission feels more critical than ever, plus their centennial happens later this year, so how appropriate to honor them with a contribution to help keep our state a welcoming place!

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity • One in four Minnesotans are housing cost-burdened, but that leaves three in four who can help – including you? Rounding up is a small way to say that you advocate for affordable housing. TC Habitat builds local quality of life, health & economic prosperity because families with homes are the foundation of a successful community.
