Buy a share of stock

Hampden Park Co-op is a member-owned business. You can become a member and have a say in the operation of the co-op. The cost is currently $30 for a share that covers your household (one or two adults, and children if you have them). This is a one-time purchase, not an annual fee.

Each adult may purchase his/her own share, but no individual may purchase more than one share. A cooperative is a democracy: one member, one vote.

Participate at the shareholder level

This includes staying informed on issues that affect the co-op and, if you’re able, attending the annual meeting (scheduled this year for October 27). You also receive a quarterly 10% discount coupon,  which is generally included with mailings such as the postcards that notify you of the Annual Meeting and the May plant sale.

Participate as a volunteer

Volunteers have always played an important role at Hampden Park Co-op. We currently have about 360 volunteers, and can always use more. Some people have been volunteering for 30 years; others volunteer when they are able. Many of our volunteers are students who provide excellent help for a year or two, and then move on with their lives.

If you’d like to volunteer, sign up for an orientation on the calendar bulletin board in the entryway. There are three orientations each month. If none of the dates work for you, or if you have questions about volunteering, email me at <>.

Choose a task that interests you

At orientation, you will learn of the variety of volunteer opportunities offered by the co-op. Tasks include cook’s helper, cleaning, cashiering, stocking, writing, doing repairs, painting, and much more.
