Music at Mayfest 11am–3pm

We are thrilled to have so much local musical talent in our midst!

Dawn plays acoustic guitar and sings a blend of folk songs and old time tunes. She performs with a range of bands in St. Paul, including Granger's Moonshine, a trio of students who all take lessons from guitar-picking master, Adam Granger. A long-time friend of the co-op and a biologist by day, Dawn recently finished her 2nd CD, Cactus on the Floor. She regularly appears solo, with friends stopping by from time to time to collaborate, at venues such as the Finnish Bistro and Underground Music Cafe.

The three ladies of Mama Caught Fire will take you on a journey through nostalgia, love and grief with their signature 3-part vocal harmony and emotional songwriting. Abigail Tuominen, Molly Sowash & Julia Hobart are known for their storytelling as they intricately explore raw vocal power, often accompanied by guitar, ukulele or piano. The trio met at Macalester College in 2013 and all three write for the group. Frequently compared to The Wailin' Jennys, The Staves, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, they will release their debut album in June, Listen As She Speaks.

Weight of the world got you feeling down? Need to cleanse your spirit? Drink from The Old Smugglers Medicine Show Junkyard Revival Aural Elixir and cure the pain and suffering that ails. Let the evangelical sound recharge your vital force and cast out the demons. Armed with ill-conceived notions of grandeur and makeshift accompaniment, this transient circus of shipwrecked fools steal the words of the devil and sling them with great fortitude and reckless abandon. The crew of The Infamous Dr. Thunder and Mister December will bottom deal and backslide their way into your heart to save your wretched soul.

2:00 – JUST WULF
Skilled. Smart. Passionate. Just a few words that represent indie hip-hop artist, Just Wulf. Mixing a battle rap bark with humble, common-man narratives, Wulf brings a bolstering, “community-first” vibe to his performances. He’s shared stages with legends such as Slick Rick plus notable underground names including R.A. The Rugged Man, and Illa J, and just completed a national tour with Carnage The Executioner. Just Wulf also speaks with classes and youth groups; as a young man of color balancing a full-time job with a music career, he has a story that connects. He plans to release a new album and music videos this year.
