Scheduled in late October, it's the time when we gather to have food and refreshments, enjoy entertainment, be inspired by an informational speaker, review the past fiscal year, vote on any bylaw changes, and elect board members. All member-owners are encouraged to attend and participate; a quorum is needed to conduct business. We are member-powered, and the Hampden Park Co-op Annual Meeting is one way to make your vote count!
The 928 News is published quarterly featuring information and articles of interest to co-op member-owners. It includes reports from the general manager and the board of directors, member discount coupons, and much more. The newsletter is mailed to members, and a few extras are available for the reading enjoyment of shoppers near the front of the store.
Member-Owners: if you are actively shopping but not receiving your newsletter, please fill out a change of address slip in the store.
Anyone: find the most recent newsletter as a pdf here.
In May, on the Saturday afternoon before Mother's Day, the annual Mayfest festival kicks off the gardening season. This event celebrates spring and community with an extravaganza of musical acts, a food truck, a beer stand, product samples, neighborhood outreach tables, games and face painting for the kiddos, and pollinator-friendly plants galore: annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, seeds. Everyone is welcome – and you don't need to be a gardener to have a good time at our parking lot party!
MOVIES IN THE PARK
Free & PG! Our namesake Hampden Park, the greenspace across from the co-op, is a perfect place for movies after dark. In partnership with St. Paul Parks & Rec, on one evening during June, July and August, we show a film outdoors. Bring along a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a starlit night of fun with friends and family – everyone is welcome! Movies typically begin after sunset, time depending on weather & light, and on movie nights the store stays open late for movie goers' snack needs.
In 2018 we screened: Moana, My Little Pony, and Coco. Plus the St. Anthony Park Community Council Equity Committee showcased affordable, healthy food with their pre-film games: Our Price is Right, and Produce Password. Hope to see you at the movies!
