Volunteer News: Summer 2013

—by Naomi Jackson, Membership Coordinator

Thank you, Mayfest volunteers

Several dozen volunteers helped out with this year's Mayfest Plant Sale. I continue to be impressed with the quality of work provided by our excellent volunteers.

Help needed in June

As I write, the June evening calendar looks dismal. I know people are exceptionally busy in June. Also, many volunteers have worked ahead and don't need to work in June. However, if you have free time on a June evening, stop in and sign up. We could really use your help!

Road construction and parking

This summer, life at the co-op will be made a little more difficult with major reconstruction of Raymond Avenue. Please read the parking information on page 3, and see the general manager's article on page 12 for more on how we will adapt to a summer of road construction.

Store remodel

On the plus side, we will use the inevitable slow time caused by construction to start replacing old equipment and fixing the floor. We will most likely need extra hands for some of these projects, so watch the bulletin board for opportunities to sign up to help.

Volunteer recruitment by email

I've started recruiting volunteers via email for specific projects. If you indicated on your orientation survey that you are interested in gardening, teaching, or event planning, you may have received an email recruiting you for outreach events or Mayfest. If you're interested in those things but didn't receive an email, I might not have your address, so send it to me at <naomi@hampdenparkcoop.com>. The email recruitment is a work in progress. I hope to have it in good working order soon.
